HC TIWAG Innsbruck will continue to rely on tried-and-tested goals in the coming season of the win2day ICE Hockey League. Tom McCollum stays at least one more year with the sharks.
Those responsible at HC TIWAG Innsbruck have thus fixed the goalkeeper team for 22/23. The American is now in his third season with the Haie and will try to keep the Haie case as clean as possible together with Rene Swette.
Here are the statements of those responsible and a short interview with Tom McCollum:
Sports Manager Max Steinacher:
“The talks with Tom were very uncomplicated, I’m glad that everything is settled. We are all very happy that Tom is staying with us despite other offers.”
HC TIWAG Innsbruck Head Coach Mitch O’Keefe:
“I’m very happy that Tom and his family are staying in Innsbruck. Tom is a model professional and an even stronger personality. It’s good to have goalies on the team who give you a chance to win every game.”
#33 Tom McColl…
…on the contract extension: “Of course I’m happy. The decision was easy for me. The team, the coaches and the environment are great. My wife and I also really like Tyrol. It’s something special to be able to play here.”
…about last season: “We had a good start, but Covid and some insights threw us back. I think also because we didn’t make the playoffs our goal for the season.”
…on the brief guest appearance with the Bietigheim Steelers: “It was a great experience. The team and the city were great too, everyone welcomed me well.”
…about goalie colleague Rene Swette: “Rene and I are a good team. We push each other in every training session and always try to make each other better. Especially in my first year in Innsbruck, Rene helped me a lot to find my way around.”
…the goals for the coming season: “To get better as always, to adapt and change little things in your own game. As a team we obviously want to make the playoffs. I have a good feeling about that, because everyone who has signed or will stay has quality.”
…his knowledge of German: “Of course it has to improve (laughs).”
