INFO THE DISPATCH. Toulouse: the fake police officers suspected of having stolen several cars on April 20 have been indicted
On the night of April 19 to 20, young people, dressed up as fake police officers, stole or attempted to steal six cars in the Haute-Garonne department. These teenagers were apprehended by the gendarmes of the research brigade of the Toulouse-Mirail company.
Flashing light on the car, they stick a motorist and order him to stop. The driver, visibly persuaded to be facing the police, agrees to park out of sight. Four young people dressed in black get out of the police car, one of them is equipped with a taser. Another with a telescopic baton and a flashlight. The victim realizes too late that he has nothing to do with law enforcement. And the criminals steal his Suzuki.
Four teenagers, aged 16 to 17, suspected of having committed at least six thefts or attempted thefts of vehicles were apprehended by the gendarmes of the Toulouse-Mirail company’s research brigade.
Car burnt out, another put up for sale on Snapchat
On the night of April 19 to 20, several car-jackings or attempts were recorded in Saint-Jory, Merville or even Grenade and Aussonne. Another took place in the Frontonnais area, on the A62 motorway, in the Toulouse-Montauban direction. In this case, the thieves went so far as to force a toll.
No motorist would have been physically attacked but the confidence of the criminals clearly destabilized them. And among the cars targeted, an Audi, a Mercedes and a BMW. Cars with which the suspects had fun on the roads of the department, before making them disappear. One of the cars was even burned, another put up for sale on Snapchat for €500…
They confess
Following this journey, the victims filed a complaint. And the Toulouse prosecutor’s office appointed the investigations to the gendarmerie of the Toulouse-Mirail research brigade. The investigators, helped by the PSIG of Colomiers, quickly identified two perpetrators, before finding the other two. During their hearings, some confessed by minimizing their role.
Assisted by their lawyers, in particular Mes Anne Prouteau, Djamel Bouguessa, Sarah Nabet-Claverie and Alexandre Parra-Bruguières, the mis en cause were referred this Thursday, April 28. And they’ve all been charged with armed robbery. Investigations are now led by an investigating judge. In the meantime, two of the four teenagers are remanded in custody.
