Why AS Monaco has the best current series in the Big 5
By gleaning a sixth victory in a row in Ligue 1 last Saturday against Saint-Etienne (4-1), the Red and Whites confirmed that they were indeed the team in the best shape in the five major European championships. The proof in numbers.
They are in full swing! Since the trigger during the very convincing success at home against Paris Saint-Germain (3-0), just before the international break in March, the players of AS Monaco have been walking on water. Against Saint-Etienne last Saturday, Philippe Clément’s men won a sixth match in a row in Ligue 1 (4-1), their longest series since January-February 2021, notes Opta.
Thanks to its series of 6 victories in Ligue 1, the “chances” of@AS_Monaco to finish on the podium at the end of the season went from 1.6% to 62.5%.
It’s a calculation that is only based on the previous ones with so many points at the same stage, but it illustrates the dynamic ⤴️. pic.twitter.com/Hi53X4wuxh

18/18, the only full box in Europe
As a result, they now have a 62.5% chance of reaching the elite podium at the end of the season, according to the statistics specialist. A march that now escapes them only on goal difference, favorable to Stade Rennais (+39 against +20), beaten at home barely two weeks ago (3-2). This dynamic, which quickly turned into a series, is obviously the best in the French championship. With 18 points gleaned out of 18 over the period, the Red and Whites are ahead of Olympique de Marseille (15/18), solid runner-up to PSG, titled last weekend. But that’s not all !
A better dynamic than Bayern Munich or Liverpool
With this full card since March 20, and the victories won successively against Paris, Metz, Troyes, Rennes, Nice then Saint-Etienne, the teammates of Wissam Ben Yedder, author of 20th but in the Cauldron, do better than the biggest European stables. Still engaged in the Champions League, Real Madrid (15/18) and Liverpool (16/18), although currently impressive, have dropped a few crumbs along the way. As well as AC and Inter Milan (14/18), or Bayern Munich (16/18), which have the best ratios of their respective countries in the European Big 5.
2.5 goals scored on average per game
But the return to form of the Monegasques is not only reflected in terms of points. In their last six outings, they have scored 15 goals (2.5 goals/match), including nine caused by the Yedderland duo (8 goals, 1 assist). Among them, 14 were also registered either on direct attacks, or the highest total in Ligue 1 over the period. At the same time, only five goals were conceded. Figures which allow AS Monaco to now be the fourth best team in the championship at home and away, where the club from the Principality has won four of its last five games.

7th clean sheet in 2022 against Nice
Always more pressing on the field (51 high recoveries in 6 games, according to the LFP), and above all more compact out of its bases, the team has also tightened the lines behind, to become the fourth defense of the elite (35 goals conceded in 35 days). Witness the 7th clean sheet obtained in 2022 in the Derby against Nice (1-0 success), by Alexander Nübel and his partners.

The Stade Louis-II has even become Fort Alamo, since the Red and Whites have lost only one of their last 14 receptions in the top flight (10 wins, three draws). An additional argument to confirm that AS Monaco is indeed the team in form at the moment. And that we will have to ride this wave to hope to grab the podium at the end of the season. DAGE!!
