The Toulouse-Bordeaux LGV, this project that is becoming concrete
Major progress in the Toulouse-Bordeaux LGV project. On Sunday April 24, 2022, the decree implementing the ordinances concerning the creation of the Société du Grand Projet du Sud-Ouest (GPSO) was published in the Official Journal. A publication marking a big step towards the realization of the project.
Trains planned for 2032
On April 22, Jean Castex and the competent ministers signed the implementing decrees for the ordinances of March 2, 2022, providing for the two local public establishments. The Toulouse – Bordeaux line and accompanied by the New Montpellier-Perpignan Line (LNMP). A signature that suits the dynamics of a pivotal start to the year, for the GPSO.
On February 18, the financing plan was signed. The planets have aligned in recent days, since when he came to Toulouse on March 14, 2022, the head of government declared that he was ensuring “that the implementing decrees can be taken before the end of the mandate”. The decree was finally published on the day of the second round of the 2022 presidential election.
At the time of his speech on March 14, Jean Castex announced that “The first works are planned for 2024, but if we could launch them at the end of 2023, that would be ideal”. Jean Castex also indicated that “the first trains were running in 2032” on this new high-speed line between Bordeaux and Toulouse, which should save an hour’s journey between the two regional capitals.

Installation of the supervisory board
During the summer of 2022, another will take place. The GPSO will see the installation of the Supervisory Board, a governing body essential to the realization of the project. As a reminder, 25 local authorities have publicly signed alongside the State and SNCF-Réseau, the financing plan that accompanies this creation.
A sum of 14 billion euros will be mobilized. The State had undertaken to contribute 40%, the same part as the local authorities. The remaining 20% is for Europe. “This project is irreversibly on track,” said the head of government. In a few years, Toulouse will therefore be only 1 hour from Bordeaux and 3 hours from Paris. The Tarn-et-Garonne will also have an LGV station in Bressols.
Namely that the total cost of the project is 14 billion euros.
