The bathing season opens this Sunday in Luxembourg
With the arrival of fine weather, the Water Management Administration recalls the opening for swimming of several lakes and ponds in the country, starting this Sunday, May 1.
The season will be able to start this weekend, with the opening for swimming of several lakes and ponds in the country from this Sunday, until September 30th.
Thus, the lake of Weiswampach, that of the Haute-Sûre in the neighboring municipalities of Boulaide, Esch-sur-Sûre and Lac de la Haute-Sûre, but also the pond of Remerschen, in the municipality of Schengen, could accommodate the first swimmers. However, you should not be too cautious: the temperatures will not exceed 14 degrees this weekend, with a fairly cloudy sky, according to Meteolux.
The Water Management Administration recalls that during this opening season, the “microbiological quality is monitored” for each bathing place. Currently, the water quality is considered “excellent” for all the lakes and ponds mentioned above.
As a reminder, the Haute-Sûre lake, the Remerschen ponds but also the Weiswampach lake have been subject in recent years to the phenomenon of blue algae, also called cyanobacteria, which has forced these bathing places to ban all nautical activities for several weeks.
The situation can be monitored in real time on the website of the water management administration.
