manager of the Gold group, Francis Delmas died
He had won the success of Gold Groupborn in Toulouse in the 1960s. Francis Delmas, manager of the musical formation from the Tarn, died on Tuesday April 26 at the age of 74. According to our colleagues from The Midi Dispatch, Gold’s historic manager died in the Seychelles while on vacation. He would have felt faint and hit a rock.
From Goldfingers to Gold, professionalization
The group, originally called golden fingerswas born from the meeting of high school students from Gaillac, in the Tarn. Francois Delmas, accordionist, had joined the group in 1965. The formation became Gold and became more professional in the 1970s, leading to the departure of several members. Francis Delmas then became the gold manager.
the Toulouse music group had achieved national success in the 1980s. Several Gold songs entered the Top 50 in France : closer to the stars, Forsaken Captain, City of Light. In 1986, the group had been named “Best revelation of variety” at the Victoires de la Musique. In the 1990s, Francis Delmas bought the Polygon workshop in Toulouse. In 2010, he sold it to Thierry Amalvy, who renamed it New Polygone Studios. Francis Delmas was also deputy mayor of Castelnau-de-Montmiral.
