Jean-Marc Jaumin (Phoen Brussels): “The Hague not included” (Brussels)
Basketball Elite Silver
In The Hague, a victory is enough for Brussels to qualify for the play-offs. Coach Jaumin is wary.
“We are not allowed to visit The Hague. That squad is for power. In the previous match, Charleroi was only able to turn an eight point deficit into a weekly three points in the third quarter. Only after that Charleroi will develop its deepening.”
“My scouting showed that The Hague is difficult to fight because it switches so quickly from zone defense to man cover. The Hague Royals still waiting for the first win, but that’s exactly why we’re keen to wipe the zero off the tables.”
“In the Netherlands you often have to deal with an arbitration that is favorable to the Dutch. I certainly don’t want to hide behind that, but it is a reality.”
With Anthony Chada, Pape Badji and Sean Pouedet, the medical cabinet in Neder-Over-Heembeek was again busy with customers. “Hopefully suitable for everyone. For a whole season it has been constantly puzzling and sliding. Last week Terry Deroover had to deal with the death of his grandmother.”
“Mentally it is hard to patch up the troubled group again and again. The fact that we need a win to keep Liège behind us hardly matters to me. We try to win every game anyway. I haven’t talked about next season yet. If I knit a follow-up in Brussels, I also have to design with a limited budget.” (rwd)
