In Toulouse, Jean-Luc Moudenc faced with the scenario of duels between his elected officials
During a lunch at the Capitol on Monday with the LR candidates for the legislative elections in Haute-Garonne, the mayor, Jean-Luc Moudenc, asked the elected representatives of his majority, which includes Macronists, to respect each other in the event of a duel.
“La France Insoumise has been able to capture fears and real problems, it does not provide the right answers. His program is dangerous and, if applied, would lead France to chaos, in the same way as Marine Le Pen. “The day after the first round of the presidential election, in our columns, Jean-Luc Moudenc, the LR mayor of Toulouse, re-elected in 2020 against a green and red coalition, said aloud the fear inspired in him by the movement of Jean- Luc Mélenchon came to power. With the Insoumis tidal wave in the Pink City (37% of the vote ahead of Emmanuel Macron at 26%), there is a great risk of seeing constituencies switch at LFI: 1, which includes the Capitol, 2, to the north from Toulouse, the 4, at Saint-Cyprien and Mirail, and the 9, at Rangueil and Portet. Four sectors where Mélenchon is in the lead, En Marche therefore weakened and LR, with just over 3%, non-existent.
This risk, the mayor of Toulouse also measures it at the municipal level. An Insoumis deputy from Toulouse, especially if he comes from his opposition, such as François Piquemal in the 4, whether or not he remains on the municipal council, would weaken the majority which, for its part, has a little chance of placing a deputy with the exception of the outgoing Jean-François Portarrieu (presidential majority) in the 5th.
This Monday, around a lunch at the Capitol, Jean-Luc Moudenc brought together all the Republican candidates, with the exception of that of Comminges, to launch a call for mobilization. But in this high-risk match, another difficulty is announced for the mayor, the majority of whom is made up of LR but also of Walkers and non-insert elected officials who attack Macron: the prospect of duels is real in two of the threatened constituencies: the 1 between Maxime Boyer (LR) and Laurence Katzenmayer or Françoise Ampoulange if they are invested by the presidential majority; and 4 between Bertrand Serp (LR) and, on the other hand, if they are selected, François Chollet or Gaëtan Cognard. Jean-Luc Moudenc asked for “respect” in the name of the unity of his majority. But it was not imposed on the LRs to give up their candidacy to favor En Marche. The interest of this withdrawal has been mentioned by candidates but its usefulness would no longer seem so obvious.
