European Professional Club Rugby | Munster live for a third victory against Toulouse in the quarter-finals
While Munster Rugby and Stade Toulousain will meet on May 7, in the quarter-finals of the Champions Cup, we will avoid you going back to the two victories of the Red Army, against the Rouge et Noir, at this stage of the competition. .
Quarter-final 2014: Munster 47 Toulouse 23 (Thomond Park)
Munster was invited to the semi-finals of the 2014 European Cup, after a demonstration punctuated by six tries at Thomond Park. The Irish dominated the debates with a first try from Keith Earls then two convictions from Ian Keatley. Despite a good start, the Munstermen went into the locker room at the break just three points clear after three penalties from Toulouse fly-half Luke McAlister. But Munster were able to accelerate in the second period and made the break with tries from Dave Kilcoyne, CJ Stander and Casey Laulala. Toulouse second-row Joe Tekori crossed the goal line ten minutes before the final whistle but the Irish responded immediately with two final tries from Simon Zebo and Paul O’Connell.
A little throwback to this Franco-Irish clash between the @StadeToulousain and the @MunsterRugby last year 😎

Quarter-final 2017: Munster 41 Toulouse 16 (Thomond Park)
That season, Munster reached the Champions Cup semi-finals for the first time in three years with a clean win over Toulouse. A try in the first minutes of the game from John Ryan put Munster on the right track. But three penalties from Jean-Marc Doussain kept Toulouse in the game, with less than four points deficit at the break. Munster fly-half Tyler Bleyendaal – who netted 21 throughout the game – added a new feature to accentuate the Red Army advantage ahead of a try from number 8 CJ Stander. Toulouse kept up the pressure with a try from Paul Perez but further penalties from Bleyendaal and late tries from Darren Sweetnam and then Andrew Conway ensured the Munstermen’s qualification for the Champions Cup last four.
