Communication students at the opening of the first PR museum in the Netherlands
During the opening of the first pop-up PR museum in the Netherlands, Avans Students Communication went for a day to debate the PR profession. The big student PR debate was on April 20.
The history, development and future of PR were visualized in the pop-up museum for two days. PR company TALK ABOUT this event and invited the students, because according to the founders of the agency, too little is known about the profession.
The propositions launched by the students were devised by a teacher from the Communication program and an Avans student, who did an internship at TALK ABOUT. Karen Baelde, TALK ABOUT employee: “The idea was received very positively by the students. It was a small group, but that made it more personal. As far as we’re concerned, this could become a traditional. We are all for sharing knowledge.”
Paul Depla, chairman of the College van B&W in Breda, opened the museum and included in his speech the importance of PR for companies and cities. “PR is sometimes perceived as unnecessary, but it is very important to tell your story that your target audience hears it. Otherwise you will remain the only one who knows the story. So PR is necessary.”
A total of thirty students were present. The pop-up PR museum was created over two days.
