This player lives again… on the bench!
In great difficulty since the start of the season, Dutch striker Myron Boadu finally seems to find his place in the Monegasque squad. Still a scorer against Saint Etienne (1-4), he seems to come back to life when he enters the game.
“I think people underestimate Ligue 1, judged the Dutchman in front of the media. For me, it’s one of the best championships in the world. In the Netherlands, with AZ Alkmaar, we didn’t have not as difficult to beat the lower ranked formations, but here everyone can beat everyone because there are a lot of good teams. I wanted to challenge myself by signing in Ligue 1 and I knew it would not be easy. That’s how I want to live my career, it’s in my nature to always aim higher.” These were the words of Myron Boadu last February, after a very complicated first 6 months in Ligue 1. The striker was trying to justify his great difficulties in France. Author of only one but in the first part of the season, he does not seem to confirm the hopes placed in him. But the striker seems to be totally reliving the past few weeks.
Newfound confidence
Still a scorer this weekend against Saint Etienne, he has scored 3 goals in his last 5 games. The most interesting thing about these three goals is that he scores them every time he comes in during play. Fast, hard-hitting, the former AZ Alkmaar player hurts a lot when the defenses are already executed . If the striker obviously claims a starting place, he may have to be content to come into play regularly, especially since Kevin Volland and Wissam Ben Yedder are more and more efficient. On a series of 6 wins in a row, Philippe Clément seems to have found the key and would have no reason to change. Still, Myron Boadu is gaining more and more confidence, which bodes very well for the end of the season for the Monegasques.
