The official visit of the Sovereign Prince to Puglia, which began on April 20, continued in the municipalities of Canosa di Puglia and Andria.
After a day spent in Terzzili and Trani, Prince Albert II continued his visit to the Puglia region, in southern Italy, on 21 April. A day that began with a visit to Canosa di Puglia, in the province of Barletta-Andria-Trani, where the Sovereign Prince was received by Mayor Roberta Morra.
Prince Albert II unveiled the sign indicating membership of the network of “Grimaldi Historic Sites of Monaco”; the Sovereign Prince had already visited this town in 1997, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the Grimaldi dynasty.
The Prince’s visit continued at the Town Hall, where a plaque commemorating the Prince’s arrival was placed. After a walk through the streets of the historic center of the city and the laying of a laurel wreath in front of the War Memorial, the Sovereign visited the Luigi Einaudi hotel secondary education establishment. The reception room of this school was even baptized “Prince Albert II of Monaco Room” in the presence of local authorities, the director of the establishment, teachers and students.
The morning ended with a visit to the site of Castel del Monte, a 13th century building listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and located in the town of Andria. After a guided tour and a lunch offered by the municipality of Andria, Prince Albert II went to the castle of Garagnone, in the heart of the Alta Murgia National Park, where the Sovereign unveiled an information panel on the links of the website with Monaco.
