Consequences of the Ukraine war: Berlin bathing establishments want to save gas – Berlin
AAs a result of the war in Ukraine, the Berlin baths want to save gas and turn down the heating in most of their baths. In the summer pools, the pool temperature is set compared to the usual two degrees, said the CEO of the Berlin baths, Johannes Kleinsorg, at a press conference on Monday in the summer pool in Wilmersdorf with sports senator Iris Spranger (SPD). In the indoor pools, the temperatures should go down by one degree.
This is a contribution to reducing dependence on Russian natural gas, said Kleinsorg. An exception is the Mariendorf summer pool, which is heated entirely with solar energy, said a spokeswoman. The bathing establishments are slightly assuming that the guests will “hardly notice” the lower temperatures. Senator Spranger added that the temperatures should not be lowered any further. Children’s paddling and therapy pools are excluded from the measure.
The outdoor pool season started in Berlin this weekend. According to the pool companies, the outdoor pools open again without a time window. The cash registers open, but there should still be online tickets – a traffic light system provides information about the occupancy of the pools. Diving towers and slides, changing rooms and showers should be open again.
The Wannsee lido is already open, and this weekend the Olympiastadion summer pool, the Spandau Süd combined pool and the Kreuzberg summer pool will also open. All pools should then be open from July. (dpa)
