Saint-Cere. The health option of Jean Lurçat in immersion in Toulouse
On Wednesday April 20, the students of the health option of the Lycée Jean Lurçat of Saint-Céré went to Toulouse to enrich their vision of health. They were accompanied by Rémi Poumeyrol, high school principal, David Auffray, referent teacher for the option, Thierry Chartroux, vice-president in charge of health and the Cauvaldor health team. It was as part of the preparation for the “Cursus Pass” that this trip was programmed.
For each young person, a vocation as a doctor can emerge, which is why the elected officials of Cauvaldor have decided to support the creation of a health option at the Lycée de Saint-Céré. This new training initiated by the community of municipalities is part of an equal opportunity approach. The will of the elected officials is to offer young people from rural areas the possibility of aspiring to a medical career with, why not, the project of settling in our territory at the end of their course. In addition to helping high school students, it is an approach that is part of the desire to improve access to care and medico-social support for all.
During this day, participants were able to attend the following program:
– Visit of Samu 31 and reception at the Faculty of Medicine were on the program. In the morning they were welcomed by Vincent Bounes from the Samu and Laurent Nicolle Emergency nurse and trainer at Cesu. The morning was very complete. The pupils were able to discover the call reception and dispatch centre, visit the emergency vehicle room, watch a helicopter take off and learn about first aid. Some of them wore a suit for interventions on a sensitive site… In the afternoon, Odile Rauzy, the dean of the faculty of medicine, did the honor of welcoming the high school students to the boardroom, a prestigious room where doctors take their Hippocratic oath. A second-year student was part of his journey, answering questions from students. Finally, to close this day, the dean took part in a diagnostic exercise with the high school students who got ready to play with great enthusiasm.
