Emmanuel Macron’s re-election to the Elysee Palace is not to everyone’s taste Toulouse. While the prefect Étienne Guyot had issued an order for ban all demonstrations in the streets of the Pink City, Sunday April 24, 2022 on the occasion of the second round, around 8 p.m., several hundred people took part in a wild protestbehind a banner: “Neither Macron, nor Le Pen, revolution”.
Demonstration on the boulevards
Leaving Jean-Jaurès, where an important security device had been deployed this Sunday, the demonstrators then went to Joan of Arc, via the boulevards of Toulouse.
300 to 500 demonstrators were designated by our journalist on the spot.
Trash fires in series
The demonstration subsequently degenerated, and the police used teargas to disperse the procession.
Around 9:45 p.m., from trash fires were lit here and there in the city center, in particular rue Bayard, where traders began to put out the fires, before the arrival of the firefighters, who had already mobilized on several interventions.
Calm returned in the evening, and traffic was reopened shortly before 11 p.m. in the area.
