Flat uninhabitable on a fierce kitchen fire | Brussels
GanshorenA fierce fire raged in an apartment building on Villegaslaan in Ganshoren on Friday evening. No injuries were reported, but one of the flats is uninhabitable due to the fire. The Brussels fire brigade reported this on Saturday.
The fire broke out around 8:50 p.m. Friday evening in the kitchen of the flat on the top floor of a five-storey building. A cooking pot of oil had been left on the fire and caught fire. The resident immediately got to safety with her two-year-old child and had the reflex to close the kitchen door. “That ensures that the smoke could not spread through it, that the flames that are limited to the rest of the apartment also limit it,” says fire brigade Walter Derieuw.
The fire brigade is completely burnt out. The flat is therefore temporarily uninhabitable. The mother and child were examined on site by a MUG doctor, but not taken to hospital. Together with the father, they are temporarily cared for by elders.
