Juventus – Benfica Lisbon (2pm CEST)
So far, Roma have only had one finalist from Italy (2015), and now Juventus are preparing to win the title.
Benfica have already achieved a lot in this competition, but it’s never enough to make it big. This is Portugal’s fourth appearance at the finals – a shared competition record.
Atlético – Salzburg (6 p.m.)
After three bankruptcies in the quarter-finals, Atlético have now qualified for a semi-final for the first time. Borussia Dortmund was the victim in the quarter-finals, losing in front of their own fans thanks to a penalty by Javier Currás. However, Currás is now suspended through a suspension and Spain’s hopes now rest on Pablo Barrios.
Salzburg are the only former semi-finals champions, having beaten Barcelona and Benfica 2-1 each in 2016/17. Paris Saint-Germain already felt how strong Salzburg is this season, losing 3-1.
Interesting: the majority of the Salzburg squad plays for Salzburg’s farm team FC Liefering in the second Austrian Bundesliga, where René Aufhauser is also the coach.
