PISA

Pisa, the writer Marco Innocenti died

Sugar Mizzy April 20, 2022

The writer Marco Innocenti

The fatal illness in the mother’s house. He was an author and cartoonist known and also translated abroad

PISA. A sudden illness caught him at his mother’s house in Pisa. And in the night between yesterday and Monday, the heart of the writer Marco Innocenti never left. He was 56 years old and lived in Scandicci. A family drama and not just the one that affected the Innocenti family. Author known and also translated abroad, Innocenti had graduated from the Buonarroti high school and then graduated in Political Science in Pisa. Since he was a teenager he had been able to combine passion and talent for writing and drawing, alternating the written page with the drawn one. At the center of everything, however, there was always the pleasure of the story, expressed in the most similar ways to the Pisan author. And above all the stories. Small microcosms that from his pen or pencil became journeys capable of capturing the interest of the reader. He wrote for adults and children after making his debut in 2000 with the novel “Against the rest of the world” (Baldini & Castoldi), winner of the Euroclub-Linus award.

His children’s adventure series “Captain Fox” (Dami / Giunti) has been translated and published in Russia, China, South Korea and many other countries. His latest books are “Agenzia Investigalibri” (Tree of Pencils) and the collection of short stories “Around the world in 18 loves” (Avagliano). He said of himself that he was born in a house full of books «mother teacher, father doctor, poet and art critic. As a child I dreamed of becoming like John Romita, the designer of Spider-Man. But I was better at writing than at drawing. When Giunti asked me to create a new series for kids, Captain Fox, the pirate of the Seven Seas, was born. As a reader, I have fallen in love not so many times. I loved stories, writers, characters. I think of Corto Maltese, Carlos Trillo, John Fante, Roald Dahl and many others. Thanks to them I learned what so of writing. Here all found my novels, short stories, comics. All my stories. Well, not all of them. Some are in the drawer, others in my computer, still others in my head, waiting to be told ».

Destiny wrote another ending in the story of Innocenti, which through social media filling them with the disappearance of memories and condolences. little readers and little readers. The Ghibelline Library joins the pain of his wife Lu Alves, his brother, his sister-in-law and all his loved ones. May the earth be light to you dear Marco ». The last farewell to the writer is scheduled for Thursday 21 April at 3.30 pm in the church of the Sacred Heart in via Bonanno.
