Marcel Kaufmann will become Balzner head – Liechtenstein
BALZERS – Shortly after the Balzner community leader announced that he would not run again, the FBP local group in the southernmost community can present its candidate for the mayoral election in March 2023: It’s Marcel Kaufmann.
“With Marcel Kaufmann, an experienced community politician will apply for the office of mayor,” said the FBP local group Balzers on Wednesday. Last week, Chairman Hansjörg Büchel announced that he would no longer be available for another term of office.
43-year-old Marcel Kaufmann is married to Janine and father of two children, Amelie and Maurice. After training as a teacher, he spent around 15 years at primary and secondary schools in Liechtenstein. After working as a pedagogical ICT supporter at the city administration of Buchs, he switched to the school authority in 2020, where he is still head of the center for school media.
Marcel Kaufmann was a municipal councilor in Balzers from 2011 to 2019, where he was responsible for the departments of sport and generations. After renouncing another candidacy, he took over the function of chairman of the FBP local group Balzers. He has also been FBP Vice President Oberland since 2021.
“When it comes to political values, sustainable and grandchild-friendly investments and innovative thinking are on his list of priorities,” writes the FBP Balzers. “He relies heavily on the inclusion of the population. An active and open communication culture is very important to him.”
Marcel Kaufmann is also very active in his free time, in which sporting activities should not be neglected. “For him, the focus is on the relationships with the people around him,” the statement said. “Family and friends are the focus of his life.” Marcel Kaufmann is also no stranger to friends of the Liechtenstein music scene. In the dialect band Rääs he sets the beat on the drums.
The official nomination of Marcel Kaufmann as the FBP candidate for the office of community leader will take place on June 2, 2022 as part of the annual meeting, i.e. the local group.
