Exports from Brazil to Portugal up 75% in the first two months of 2022 – chambers of commerce – Economy
According to data from the FCPCB’s international business observatory, “total exports from Brazil to Portugal in January and February 2022 were 542.1 million dollars (502.51 million euros)”, which means a growth of about 75% compared to the same period last year.
Of the Brazilian states, the one that contributed the most to this total was Rio de Janeiro, whose exports to the Portuguese market reached a total value of around 420 million dollars (389.2 million euros), in the first two months of the year. year, which represents an increase of 87% compared to the first quarter of 2021.
Arlindo Varela, advisor to the Portuguese Chamber of Rio de Janeiro, explains this growth with oil sales, as he already has official figures, in statistics on exports from Brazil to Portugal.
“It is oil that prevails in the trade balance. We export through the ports of Rio de Janeiro and the Port of Santos, but it is in the Campos Basin that it predominates, as it has the greatest prominence in terms of production”, in a statement released by the Federation.
“For us at the Chamber, this result is very relevant because it values Rio de Janeiro even more”, he adds.
The first of Brazil’s most exported products for Portugal’s products that two months are compounds (oil products), totaling 38.573 million dollars (357 million euros), or value, more than 86.85% than in millions January and February 2021, followed by iron and steel (USD 33,841 million, up 99.76%), wood, charcoal and wooden works (USD 27,925 million, up 71.36%), rice (USD 5,254 million, -20.09%) and tin (5,230 million, +64.52%).

This tool was developed by the Federation of Portuguese Chambers of Commerce in Brazil — FCPCB, in partnership with the Chamber Brazil Portugal in Ceará – CBPCE and with the support of APSV Advogados, which created the federation.
The data released from the Observatory are from the BI (Business Intelligence), which compiles information such as information released by the Ministry of Economy1997 and makes comparisons as desired, since trade relations with Portugal, including foreign trade information from all Brazilian states where there are Luso-Brazilian chambers, in advance.
This also makes it possible to analyze current trade between a given state and the countries with which it has trade relations.
