City of Salzburg – Now fixed: Citizens’ survey on the expansion of the Mönchsberggarage will take place on Sunday, June 26th
On Wednesday, April 20, 2022, the main electoral authority of the city of Salzburg gave the green light for the public survey on the expansion of the Mönchsberg garage. It will take place on Sunday 26 June 2022. This was agreed unanimously without discussion. With the declarations of support subsequently submitted by the operators, the city law hurdle of 2,000 valid signatures was cleared.
The citizens’ survey will be carried out like an election according to the legal requirements, including the deadlines specified in the municipal election regulations. The authority chose the last Sunday in June as the date for the survey, in order to have three weeks to issue absentee ballots. If Sunday, June 12 had been taken, absentee ballots would only have been available for one week due to the prescribed deadlines.
The upcoming next steps:
- The voting record will be available for inspection from May 22nd to 27th.
- After that, the electoral roll can be closed.
- This is necessary, among other things, in order to be able to issue absentee ballots. They will be issued from May 30th to June 23rd (due to public holidays this is not possible on Whit Monday, June 6th, and on Corpus Christi, June 16th).
- Each person entitled to vote will also receive information by post about two weeks before the survey date, which shows the district, voting date, voting location and election time.
- As is usual with other polls, 34 polling stations will probably be available across the city, subject to the decision of the municipal electoral authority.
The result of the citizen survey is not binding for city politics and can be canceled in the electronic official gazette of the city of Salzburg.
