Slovakia sold bonds worth half a billion euros, overall demand was higher
Slovakia again sold bonds, while in Tuesday’s auctions of four issues of government bonds, investors bought Slovak securities for 517.8 mil. eur. The total achieved reached 628.8 mil. eur.
The auctions will continue on Wednesday with a non-competitive part, where investors will be able to buy Slovak government bonds for another 103.6 mil. eur. This follows from data published by the Debt and Liquidity Agency (ARDAL).
The highest amount for bonds maturing in 2051
The state obtained the highest amount in Tuesday’s auctions by selling bonds maturing in October 2051, namely 198.3 mil. EUR with an average yield of 2.3268% pa The total demand for these securities reached 229.3 mil. eur. In the non-competitive part of the auction, 39.7 mil. EUR at an average price of 71.9198%.
The second highest sale was recorded by bonds maturing in April 2036 in the amount of 130 mil. EUR with an average yield of 2.0557% pa The total demand in this auction was 148 mil. eur. In the non-competitive part of the auction, 26 mil. with an average price of 79.7328%.
This was followed by bonds maturing in May 2025, which sold for 128 mil. eur. The average accepted yield to maturity reached 0.8061% pa The total demand for these securities amounted to 167 mil. eur. ARDAL will also offer these bonds on Wednesday in the non-competitive part of the auction, in the amount of 25.6 mil. EUR at an average price of 98.3242%.
Fifth auction this year
Finally, the bonds matured in April 2030, with sales of 61.6 mil. eur. The average accepted yield to maturity reached 1.4184% pa The total demand for these securities was 84.5 mil. eur. In the non-competitive part of the auction, 12.3 mil. EUR at a price of 94.9978%.
This is the fifth auction this year. At the end of March, government bonds with a nominal value of CZK 1.078 billion had been sold at auction. eur. For the whole of last year, it was the amount of 6,702 billion EUR, in 2020 it was 9,996 billion eur.
