The team will follow extensive American football Back to Play protocols during the event. The association requires that all employees and players be fully vaccinated in order to attend YNT training. As a leader in the sport, the health and safety of all participants is a top priority for American football.
Players born on or after January 1, 2007 are eligible for the U-15 MYNT. Heinemann has called up 19 players born in 2007 and one born in 2008 – Charlotte FC striker Nimfash Berchimas.
The team had previously gathered at home trainings in January and February, as seven players competed in all three U-15 competitions this year. Three will make their U-15 MYNT debut this year: goalkeeper Patryk Stechnij, defender Davi Alexandre and striker Caden Glover.
Launched in 2004, the Torneo delle Nazioni marks its 18th edition of the Torneo delle Nazioni this year, as the competition returns in full force after playing an abbreviated four-team tournament last year. Many current senior USMNT players took part in the competition. Striker Tim Weah helped the US win the 2015 tournament and scored in the final against Austria. In 2017, George Bello, Gianluca Busio, Joe Scally and Gio Reyna led the US to the tournament title, with Scally and Reyna scoring goals in the final against England. Finally, goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina backed the U.S. in the 2019 tournament before receiving his first two senior team calls in the last six months.
The list includes 20 players from 15 clubs, including 14 MLS academies. Three players come from the New York Red Bulls, and two each play for FC Dallas, San Jose Earthquakes and Real Salt Lake. The lone non-MLS player is defender Scott Chavira of Santa Cruz Breakers. The players come from 11 countries, led by five from California.
Many players took part in this camp BioSteel YNT Regional Identification Centers last spring one-day trainings bringing together top players in their home regions.
With the introduction of the US Soccer YNT U-14 Talent ID program in 2019, the U-15 USMNT cycle lasts only one year. The two-year Concacaf Championship for boys under 15 will be next year 2023.
