Toulouse: the House of Energy overwhelmed with requests
In the current context of rising energy prices, linked to the war in Ukraine, many private owners and condominiums are turning to the new Energy Center recently deployed in Toulouse, according to François Chollet, in charge of energy transition to the metropolis.
“We are a little overwhelmed by the volume of requests”, says François Chollet, vice-president of Toulouse Métropole in charge of ecology, sustainable development and energy transition, who recently participated in the inauguration of the House energy, the new metropolitan and regional structure opened in Toulouse to help residents adopt more economical heating systems that do not use fossil fuels if possible. It would even take up to two months, today, to get an appointment with the Maison de l’énergie, according to the metropolitan elected official: “It’s the price of success, we’re going to organize to improve our response time”, he says. “We receive requests from individuals but also now from co-ownerships which are very deductible”.
“Tailored support”
Faced with the climate emergency and the crisis currently affecting the energy sector, Toulouse Métropole opened the Maison de l’Energie on 22 February. She was officially arrested on April 6 by Jean-Luc Moudenc, mayor of Toulouse, president of Toulouse Métropole, Thierry Cotelle, councilor for the Occitanie region and Souhayla Marty, district mayor (Lapujade, Bonnefoy, Périole, Marengo, La Colonne) , in the presence of François Chollet. This one-stop shop aims to “enable all residents and businesses in the Toulouse metropolitan area to carry out their energy renovation projects, from their design to their completion, thanks to tailor-made support”. In particular, this structure provides advice (free) on changing boilers, installing a heat pump, photovoltaic panels, support for renovation (diagnosis, type of work to be undertaken, help with reading quotes, etc.) and information to mobilize available financial aid.
Regional public service
The Maison de l’énergie is part of the regional public service for energy renovation launched by the Occitanie region. Operational since January 1, 2020, it is based on a network of 31 one-stop shops spread throughout its territory thanks to the support of local partners: departments, cities, EPCIs, regional natural parks, etc. Its mission is to support households in carrying out energy renovation work.
The Maison de l’énergie was co-financed by the European Union, the Occitanie region and Toulouse Métropole. To allow everyone to access it, the eight advisers of the Maison de l’énergie also benefit from hotlines in 23 other sites (town halls, citizenship centres, etc.) in the municipalities of the Métropole.
