Muse replaces Foo Fighters at Rock in Rio Lisbon | Music
The British Muse return to Portugal in June, for a concert at Rock in Rio Lisboa, replacing the Foo Fighters as headliners, the festival’s organizers announced this Monday.
“The globally acclaimed trio joins The National, Liam Gallagher and Xutos & Pontapés in supporting the Mundo Stage on the first day of the festival. [18 de Junho]acting instead of the previously announced Foo Fighters,” reads a statement released this week.
Muse have performed several times in Portugal, including three times at Rock in Rio Lisboa (in 2008, 2010 and 2018, in the last edition of the festival before the pandemic). The most recent concert in Portugal was in July 2019, at Passeio Marítimo de Algés, Oeiras, as part of the tour to present the album “Simulation Theory”, released in November 2018.
In June, at Rock in Rio Lisboa, Muse can perform live songs from the new album, will of the peoplewith edition scheduled for August.
The Foo Fighters announced at the end of March the cancellation of all tours, a few days after the death of the band’s drummer, Taylor Hawkins.
The Rock in Rio organization recalls “fans who had purchased it before the cancellation of Foo Fighters could choose to keep their ticket, exchange it for one of the other days of the festival or request a refund”. “All information about tickets will be available at rockinriolisboa.sapo.pt from the 25th of April,” reads the statement released this week.
The 9th edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa, initially scheduled for 2020 and postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic, takes place on the 18th, 25th, 26th of June.
