He was inspired by Toulouse to paint his frescoes
You have surely already wondered which artist hides the fresco of the company Zincal visible from the ring road? We found for you.
Pheno (or Feno) is a 38-year-old artist from Toulouse. He mainly practices drawing and painting in the studio. He uses different media: on canvas, paper and recycled media such as wood or metal. His artistic work reflects his attraction for big cities, architecture, urban resentments. He explains: “I translate my urban emotions and my memories. I draw buildings and buildings from my imagination or from reality”. He revisits their perspectives through accumulations, elevations and decompositions, “I captured architectural elements here and there”.
A street artist
His name can be seen all over the city. When he is not in his studio, the artist also enjoys working outdoors, commissioning wall decorations or paintings in abandoned places. In June 2019, the company Zincal placed an order with him: it asked the artist to decorate their building facade, visible from the ring road at the Mirail exit. A 50 meter long work support, on which Pheno has painted a turquoise sky, buildings, trains… And oversized tomatoes! The fresco will be refreshed every 3 years.
First love
For a year, the artist has been preparing an exhibition, exclusively on the theme of Toulouse. He explains: “It will be called First Love, quite simply because Toulouse is my first love”. This is a personal exhibition, “Paintings, drawings, engravings and sculptures, it will be a multi-technical exhibition”, he specifies. It will take place in September; The place is not yet revealed, it will be necessary to wait at the end of August and scrutinize its social networks to know the place of reception.
