Visiting the Arve Valley, Bruno Le Maire wants to reassure players in the bar turning industry
On Friday April 15, the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire went to Magland, in Haute-Savoie. He went to meet players in the bar turning industry with one objective: to reassure them in the face of soaring energy prices and to defend Emmanuel Macron’s measures.
The bar turning industry is the economic lifeblood of the Arve Valley. In Haute-Savoie, the sector represents more than 20,000 jobs and 20% of the wealth of the department.
Faced with rising energy prices, the region’s economic players are very worried.
Barely arrived in Magland, in Haute-Savoie, the Minister of the Economy Bruno Le Maire is challenged by the president of the National Union of Turning. Alain Appertet evokes the case of the company Kartesisspecialized in the manufacture of bar turning parts for the automotive, energy and aeronautic sectors whose electricity bill has gone”from 1.2 million euros to 5.2 million euros” per year.
Faced with this observation, Bruno Le Maire wants to be reassuring by announcing support for companies, bar turning being according to him, “an absolute priority“before speaking of another”fight“, that of “disconnect electricity and gas prices“.
In Magland, Marine Le Pen, the candidate of the Rassemblement National (RN), came out ahead in the first round of the presidential election on 10 April.
The elected La République en Marche (LREM) therefore want to reassure, but above all convince the voters. “Emmanuel Macron’s policy is a policy of both sovereignty and innovation, which is part of a European and global dimension“says Véronique Riotton, MP for the first constituency of Haute-Savoie before adding:
This responds to the problems of the Arve valley.

So”that it had been losing for 15 years, the industry is recreating jobs“since 2019 according to Xavier Roseren, also LREM deputy for the sixth constituency of Haute-Savoie.”We must put industry back at the heart of our economy and that is what this government has done.”
For more than two hours, Bruno Le Maire therefore wanted to reassure the participants. The latter asked their questions to the Minister of the Economy and shared their expectations concerning the privatization of dams, the revaluation of pensions or the bonus “purchasing power” of 6,000 euros, announced by the president-candidate Emmanuel Macron, and which some citizens doubt.
Faced with a hundred people, including elected officials from the Republicans, Bruno Le Maire defended the economic policy of Emmanuel Macron against that of his rival from the National Rally. “Marine Le Pen’s only solution is to say “I lower the VAT”, but lowering the VAT does not concern companies so it is not very effective for all companies, including those in the Arve Valley” criticizes the Minister of the Economy.
We provide more effective responses than those of Marine Le Pen.

A hammered message, a few days before the second round of the presidential election.
