Toulouse overcomes Quevilly-Rouen and goes straight to L1, Auxerre provisional dolphin
At the start of the 33rd day of Ligue 2, the Toulouse Football Club, solid leader of the championship, received Quevilly-Rouen, sixteenth at kick-off. At the Stadium, Philippe Montanier’s men, remaining on four wins in a row, hoped to continue their good momentum to consolidate their leadership position a little more and thus get closer to the elite of French football. Dominating in the game but not very sharp in the last 20 meters, the Toulousains nevertheless stumbled on a Norman defense well in place, even suffering several clear chances (28th, 36th, 40th). Held in check at the break, the TFC finally relied on their King. Top scorer in the championship, Healey again distinguished himself by opening the scoring with a header at the start of the last quarter of an hour (1-0, 75th). In the dying seconds, Ratao definitively sealed the victory for his team (2-0, 90+2nd) and allowed the TFC to sign a 21st victory this season. The L1 is closer than ever for the Pitchouns!
In the other meeting, Auxerre, third in L2, moved to the Nouste Camp to challenge Pau there, pointing to ninth place in the standings. An opposition that started with a bang since Sakhi opened the scoring from the start (0-1, 5th). Led, the Palois nevertheless reacted in stride through Daubin (1-1, 11th) but Hein also went there with his achievement (1-2, 13th) and thus allowed the Auxerrois to lead at the break. On returning from the locker room, AJA logically took advantage of the numerical superiority after the expulsions, one after the other, of Kouassi and Sylvestre (55th) and scored two new goals through Sinayoko (1-3, 74th) and Joly in very late in the game (1-4, 87th). A precious success (4-1) which allows the Auxerrois to become, temporarily, the new dolphins of the Violets. Pau falls, for his part, to 10th place.
