The Team reports this afternoon that the Strasbourg coach Julien Stéphan is the priority option for the Lyon management in the event of the departure of Peter Bosz.
President Jean-Michel Aulas remains confident in the Dutchman for now, although the 3-0 Europa League loss to West Ham was the latest in a disastrous season. However, unless results improve and a continental place is secured at the end of the campaign, he could be on the way out.
Aulas and director of football Vincent Ponsot have Julien Stéphan in mind as a replacement, with the former Rennes player challenging Europe this season with his Strasbourg side. The Alsatians say they have had no contact with Lyon, while it remains to be seen whether they would be ready to let him leave with two years of contract remaining.
Laurent Blanc also remains a candidate, with Aulas speaking openly about the possibility of bringing him back on board in January. Former Troyes manager Laurent Batlles would be a cheaper option, although as a former Saint-Étienne and with his lack of experience the odds would be stacked against him. Strasbourg are also eyeing him as a potential replacement for Stephan.
