OGC Nice Mercato: Fournier’s focus on Kluivert
OGC Nice went to draw on the side of AS Roma during the offseason. Not in José Mourinho’s plans, the new coach of the Giallorossi, Justin Kluivert is on loan this season with an option to the Gym. Which would amount to 15 million euros. Despite his inconstancy, a permanent transfer of Kluivert to the OGCN is mentioned. The Dutch winger has 5 goals and as many assists in 23 appearances this season.
Nice football director, Julien Fournier has maintained the vagueness as to the signing of the striker still under contract until 2023 with Roma. “Any decision on personal cases will be taken at the end of the season. I know what the player wants to do, I know what we want too, but there is a season to finish,” said the Aiglons manager in an interview with Nice morning.
End of season, transfer window, Fournier unpacks
Current 6th in Ligue 1 Uber Eats, OGC Nice is experiencing a slack in the league. Before hosting FC Lorient this Sunday, Nice has just lined up four games without a win: two draws and as many defeats. Julien Fournier nevertheless remains optimistic about qualifying for the European Cup. “It is forbidden to give up! We have the possibility of going for a European Cup and a French Cup. You have to look ahead. This team made me doubt if they hadn’t shown anything. We have a hole period, but we have shown that we are strong. Mental and physical wear and tear have no place. On the other hand, ambition has to be there”, he underlined.
In his release, the Gym’s football director also spoke about the next Nice transfer window. Regarding the recruitment of attacking players, he relies on the requirements of Christophe Galtier. “I’m not a coach and the number of attackers is the responsibility of the coach,” said Julien Fournier.
