Mol political criticism of Viaplay: “The Netherlands has difficulty with change”
The transfer of the broadcasting rights from Ziggo Sport to Viaplay has generated many comments for the streaming service so far. Olav Mol knows why it is so difficult for the Netherlands to get used to Viaplay’s approach.
After a test week and three race weekends, the criticism of Viaplay, which has held the rights to Formula 1 since this season, is not tender. Many people criticize, among other things, the image quality and the fact that it is almost impossible to watch sessions via the stream site. In addition, Viaplay also receives a lot of criticism from the Dutch fans about the execution of the race weekend.
Criticism of Viaplay
It mainly concerns the approach and coherence of the broadcasts, the analysts, pit reporter and the two new commentators. Nelson Valkenburg and Melroy Heemskerk are not yet to everyone’s taste. Bee HLF8 Jack Plooij and Olav Mol were guests. Mol came out with an explanation for the criticism Viaplay received. “If you just want to say something about it in a nuanced way, you have to say: The Netherlands always has trouble with change and/or innovation. That is quite simple. They are a very large media company that has chosen path A, and the Netherlands finds it difficult to get used to that. Yes, so be it.”
Viaplay itself satisfied
Viaplay itself has already stated several times that they are satisfied with the start of their era in the Netherlands. There will “always be possible,” but Viaplay “couldn’t have wished for a better start.” Obviously not everyone agrees with this. Many people have already canceled their subscription or are questioning the rest of the season.
