Michel Boeri reassures on the future of the Monaco Grand Prix
Following recent rumors concerning the ousting of the Monaco Grand Prix, Michel Boeri takes stock and reassures the world of Formula 1.
At a time when the Formula 1 increasingly open its doors to new so-called spectacular Grand Prix such as Las Vegas, Miami, Qatar or Azerbaijan, others are questioned. This is particularly the case of monaco who still hasn’t signed a contract for the next few seasons.
If it represents the history of the discipline, the prestige and the glamour, Monte-Carlo suffered from the influence of the new Grands Prix and no longer seems to be unanimous in the F1 paddock, as explicitly explained Zack Brown (Managing Director of the McLaren F1 team) at the microphone of the Formula 1 :
“I think Monaco needs to adopt the same commercial conditions as the other Grands Prix and perhaps also work with other means to adapt its track. As our cars got bigger, racing got harder. »
Words that did not scare the president of theAutomobile Club of Monaco. Following recent rumours, Michel Boeri met with the governing bodies of the ACM to set things straight and take stock of the future of the Monaco Grand Prix :
“I want to allude to what we have read in the press where we talk about difficulties after this 2022 edition, that is to say from next year, to continue to organize Grands Prix. It was understood that the prices asked by Liberty Media were too excessive for Monaco and that the Grand Prix was no longer working. It’s wrong.
We are still in discussions with them and we will now have to concretize by signing a contract. I can guarantee you that after 2022 the Grand Prix is confirmed to take place. I don’t know if the contract will be for 3 or 5 years, but that’s a detail.” proposals reported by the Monaco Gazette.
