He takes the stage this Saturday, April 16, 2022. After a blind audition passed with flying colors, the Toulousain Fabien Cicoletta will be featured in the battles of The voicethe famous tele-hook of TF1. A great reward for anyone celebrating 30 years of career.
“I am with two stars! »
News: Hello Fabian. You brilliantly passed the blind audition with your interpretation of “Feeling Good” by Nina Simone. You will now participate in the battles. Do you expect to go so far in the adventure?
Fabien Cicolleta: When you get involved in The Voice, you don’t think about it specifically. We are already concentrating on the first stage which is very difficult because there are plenty of castings beforehand. Once you have the chance to find yourself in front of the armchairs, you start thinking about it. But we are still focused on this first step. Everything in its time ! It’s so difficult and exhausting. I’m trying to flip the chairs, and if it flips, we’ll see! I hadn’t really planned. Now that I’m there, I focus on this new step: the battles.
Your blind audition was a bit special, since one of your relatives also participates in the show…
CF: What was even heavier for me was that I was with Ugo, my 17 year old son. All my hopes were on him (the jury did not turn around, editor’s note). We were two, so it was great! It’s true that as a dad, I was more attentive to his passage than to mine! Despite the many castings, skimming… we both managed to move forward together. It’s fantastic !
Now for the battles. Who will you face on Saturday?
CF: This year, the coaches took a lot more talent from the teams, so they exceeded the quota. So we’ll have a three-way battle. I am lucky to be with two people already known to the general public in France and Belgium: Caroline Costa (the young woman, revealed in France has an incredible talent and the musical Robin des Bois, is from Tarn- et-Garonne, editor’s note) and Axel Hirsoux who represented Belgium at Eurovision and participated in the Belgian edition of The Voice.
When I heard the two names, I thought it was an honor. I’m with two “stars”! I’m a bit of an outsider because I make a living from it, but I’m not known to the general public. It put a little pressure on me because I was afraid of not existing in the middle of these two notorieties. But they quickly put me at ease. They are two adorable people with whom it matched immediately. In reality shows, everything is multiplied by 10,000. We very quickly felt close and very united. We forget the competition. It’s more a trio than a battle that we propose.
He chose Marc Lavoine as a coach
We feel that there is a good atmosphere and above all a lot of benevolence between the candidates…
CF: Oh yes ! There is only benevolence and even love. Everything is going super fast and something very strong has been created between us. It remains engraved in the memories.
Why did you choose Marc Lavoine as your coach?
CF: After my passage in front of the armchairs, on a debriefing. On TV, they spend only two to three minutes. In fact, it lasts much longer. Marc Lavoine seduced me much more by attracting me to him. Florent Pagny was a little more discreet. I said to myself that I was of great interest to Marc Lavoine, so I joined his team.
What does it bring you?
CF: He is reassuring and attentive. We can talk to him, he is open. It’s nothing but, for example, every time we meet, he asks me about my son. I really like this human side, it’s reassuring. When you are an artist, you need to be reassured to be able to express yourself and be confident.
A planned mini-album
In parallel with the show The Voice, where are your projects in music?
CF: Confidences (his mini-album, editor’s note) is in progress. I have already released a title, J’avance, available on YouTube. It is a title written and composed by Sandraline, an artist from Toulouse who participated in The Voice last year. Her lover, the pianist Tom Carrière, took care of the arrangements.
The first title came out after my passage in front of the armchairs. It tells a bit about life with obstacles that we overcome, beautiful things that happen… We try to exist and then sometimes we take setbacks, but we move forward! It tells a little about the life of an artist!
Do you think The Voice can give your career a boost?
CF: It’s a beautiful showcase. As a singer, arriving in front of the armchairs is a great challenge. When they turn around, it’s the Holy Grail! The Voice is the TV show that a lot of people watch. We expect this to open some doors for us. But after 30 years of career, for my CV, it’s a bit like the icing on the cake of everything I’ve been able to experience!
Fabien Cicoletta’s battle at The Voice will be broadcast on Saturday April 16, 2022, from 9:10 p.m., on TF1.
