The Slovaks relegated to the 1st Division in the 2018/2019 season, when they failed to hold matches with Switzerland at the World Championships in Sweden. After losing 1: 2 to the matches, three years have passed since the last performance of the Slovak national team at the World Championships in this age category.
Plans for a quick return to the elite were crossed by a coronavirus pandemic among Slovaks. The A-group tournament of the 1st Division of the Under-18 World Championships originally started in Spišská Nová Ves in 2020, was canceled and did not take place a year later due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation.

However, in 98 seconds it was leveled, Honzek certainly repulsed the puck in front of the goal and sent it into the net. In the second act, both teams first played a power play, but without success. For the next ten minutes, the Slovak hockey players pushed the Danes, they got to the end, but the goalkeeper Steinbergs saw all the shots well. Severania had a chance to take the lead on Moelgaard’s dazzling drive up the left, but the opportunity fizzled away as his shot went just over the bar after 33 minutes. Then the Slovaks had more of the game again, but they missed the idea especially in the final phase. The Danes defended the area well in front of the goal area and did not allow the opponent to reach the rebounded puck.

The third third was also started by the pressure of the Slovaks, but he suppressed Dvorský’s mistake and the Danes threatened dangerously in a power play. Then the conquest of the hard Danish defense continued, the Norwegians did not let the Slovak young men into the chances. And when a shot went through, Steinbergs solved it reliably. The victory finally helped the Slovak to be lucky. In the power play, after the unsuccessful shot of Čiernik, the puck got on Kopecký’s hockey stick and he decided with a gentle run. In the end, the Danes resigned, and after their next break, Čiernik sealed the final result.
