Exit idea. In the Bout du Lac d’Annecy reserve, follow “Nestor le castor”
The association of Friends of the Bout du lac nature reserve has devised an audio-guide, produced by the CEN (Conservatory of natural spaces of Haute-Savoie, Asters), which allows, while strolling, to apprehend in a fun and interactive way the many facets of this protected site located in the town of Doussard, at the southern end of Lake Annecy.

The beaver, the birds and animals of the reedbed on the wildlife side, the forest, the wet meadow, the reedbeds on the vegetation side… Throughout the course, 20 Nestor the Beaver mascots installed on educational panels, trees or railings ( as well as on a map) you indicate the locations of 20 sound tracks to listen to. To access the recordings, simply flash a QR code or download tracks.
Climb into the lookout post
Accessible by the greenway of the tour of Lake Annecy, the starting point of the walk is located at the level of the car park (paying from May to September) of the beach of Doussard. It takes 1 hour to complete this easy and family loop (partly accessible to people with reduced mobility) which crosses alluvial forest, wet meadow and reed bed to the Beauvivier tower, a lookout post which is an ideal observation point. .
Reedbeds, moors and woods…
This reserve created in 1974, and which covers 84 hectares, is a natural environment typical of wetlands divided into several distinct ecological zones: aquatic and terrestrial reed beds, ash willow moors and alder thickets, pedunculate oak woods, agricultural meadows, etc.
Because of this diversity of habitats, the fauna is extremely rich there. Pike rub shoulders with sparrows and wintering birds (pochard and red scaup) as well as beavers, whose passage you can track.
On the flora side, the inventories have notably highlighted the presence of pneumonanthes gentians and orchids as well as sensitive and protected species such as the Loesel’s Twayblade.
