Under-17s lose Gibraltar 0-2 – Liechtenstein
PAOLA – After the opening victory of the Liechtenstein U17 national team in the development tournament against San Marino, there was a 0:2 defeat against Gibraltar in the second game.
Liechtenstein’s U17 national coach Michael Koller changed his starting XI quite a bit compared to the opening game to give all players minutes to play. This change was noticeable in the initial phase and the Liechtensteiners were initially unable to provide any relief in Malta. Gibraltar took advantage of this with two goals in the ten minutes before half-time to take a 2-0 lead. In the second round, the LFV players showed a lot of morale and acted more courageously. As a result, the Liechtensteiners also had chances to score, but were unable to convert them.
“Both teams calculated a lot in today’s game. Our conversions really got us into the game during the first half and then we conceded two avoidable goals just before half-time. In the second half we tried everything and were able to not rewarded. Nevertheless, I’m very proud of how the team presented itself today,” said national coach Michael Koller.
It is now a question of the players recovering well from the first two games so that they are ready for the final game against hosts Malta on Easter Monday.
