Mask requirement in Italy and travel over Easter2022: is mask requirement in Italy?
Italy is still one of the recognized holiday destinations for Germans, and that also applies to the Easter holidays. At a time when the corona rules in Germany were also being significantly relaxed, many travelers asked themselves one question: is it compulsory to wear a mask in Italy? When it comes to the subject of compulsory masks in Italy, the clear answer is: IT continues to exist. Vacationers should therefore urgently carry a mask with them whenever they travel over Easter 2022, even an FFP2 mask for some areas. It is included in long-distance trains or cable cars, for example.
There is a general obligation to wear masks in Italy in all closed rooms. This makes Italy very different from the Corona rules in Austria, for example. In Lower Saxony, too, there were recently new corona rules for masks and the like.
gilded above: Italy has also relaxed the Corona rules. However, the 3G rule must still be met when entering the country, so travelers must be tested, vaccinated or recovered. In Italy, this requires an antigen test that is no more than 48 hours old, or a PCR test that is no more than 72 hours old. They are intended to prevent corona sufferers from entering the country, for example with the corona variant Omicron BA.2, whose symptoms can resemble a cold.

Corona rules in Austria, Italy and Germany: Despite easing, the pandemic is not over
In many countries, the corona rules have not recently been massively relaxed with regard to the obligation to wear a mask, including Austria, Italy and Germany. However, the gradual return to normal should not hide the fact that the pandemic is not over: the incidences are still extremely high in many places, including in Germany. Lower Saxony, for example, only recently recorded the second highest value in a comparison of the federal states.
Caution is therefore still required not only over Easter 2022, in crowded places it is still possible to wear a corona mask voluntarily across countries, regardless of the rules. Nonetheless, travelers in Italy and Austria can now act a little more carefree – carefree, but not careless.* kreiszeitung.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
