On April 20, Florian Scheicher (ÖVP) will retire from the Hallein municipal council. The reason for this is the dispute in Hallein between SPÖ and ÖVP. Katharina Seywald follows as Deputy Mayor.
In the long-simmering dispute between SPÖ and ÖVP in Hallein (Tennengau), Deputy Mayor Florian Scheicher announced on Wednesday evening that he would resign from next Wednesday.
“When I went into politics and when I took over the office of deputy mayor, it was clear to me that I wanted to stand up for visions and complete ideas. In everyday political life, visions from a party other than the SPÖ are not welcome. The mayor also informed me through the media that he had left the table and no longer wanted to work with me,” said Scheicher.
“I will remain a political person”
Scheicher did not rule out a return to politics: “I cannot and will not plan for the future. At the age of 29, 10 years from now I will still be younger than the average municipal representative in Salzburg”. He wants to remain a political person.
“The decision to withdraw from the municipal council has been around for months because, as a young person, I want to concentrate fully on my professional development and my employer thankfully offers me the opportunity to do so,” says Florian, the outgoing Deputy Mayor of Halle Scheicher Scheicher now wants to concentrate on his civilian job as a manager at the Salzburg aid organization.
In Hallein’s town hall, community representative and local farmer Katharina Seywald (ÖVP) took Scheicher’s place. Katharina Seywald is already a community representative in Hallein and works in the committee for city marketing, urban development and the environment, as well as in the committees for culture and social affairs.
