an “express bus” from 2024 to compensate for metro breakdowns
The mobility in Toulouse continues its transformation. Bus line 14, one of the best known in the Pink City, is about to be kept for an express line. Indeed, the Joint Transport Union Committee of the Toulouse conurbation proposes the establishment of a Linéo 14 which connects the stations of Basso Cambo and Marengo SNCF.
An alternative to Line A of the Toulouse metro
When the line A of the Toulouse metro is at a standstill, bus line 14 is often crowded with users in order to reach their destination. Thus, replacing this line with an express line could compensate for occasional metro breakdowns from 2024.
This new line is thus part of “the Mobility 2020-2025-2030 strategy and the establishment of a structuring transport network, with the Linéo lines which complete the metro / tram offer”, indicates Tisséo in a press release. .
Nearly 13km long and equipped with 34 stops, it will serve more than 89,000 inhabitants within a radius of 400m, according to the city’s transport service. As a terminus at Matabiau station, it provides access to line A of the metro but also to the offer offered by the rail network and, eventually, to the 3rd line of the Toulouse metro.
Toulouse’s new “express bus” in numbers:
- Visitor target revealed at 13,000 travellers/day
- Commissioning scheduled for September 2024
- Total amount of the operation for Tisséo Collectivités revealed at €2.25M excl.
To enable the Linéo 14 to be efficient and to guarantee travel time as much as possible, Tisséo plans to build new bus lanes. At the time of commissioning, Tisséo estimates that approximately 60% of the route will be in bus lanes, in each direction of traffic.
