Messmer, the fascinator presents his new show, HypersensoryWednesday April 13, 2022, at the Zenith of Rouen (Seine Maritime). It will lead you into the universe of your five senses.
76Actu.fr: How have you lived these last two years?
Messmer: I can’t wait to get back to touring especially after two years like we just went through. Since January, it’s finally started again. There was a fear of new reports at the beginning, but now it’s really started again. People are regaining confidence, the vaccination pass is no longer compulsory, neither is the mask.
When I started Hypersensory, Everything happened really fast. I presented it from the end of 2019 to March 2020, following the forced stop due to the pandemic. In Quebec, I’m at the end of a tour, while in Europe I’ve barely presented this show.
Do we find new concepts, new experiences compared to other shows?
It’s the same winning recipe. There are more thrilling stagings, more wacky experiences to live on stage. I use it to see how the senses can interact on the brain. For example, something infected can become good and vice versa. You can hypnotize people with a simple smell. But also, your senses can harm you.
In life we have false habits. We can program ourselves. Through this show, I show people that we are our best friend, but also our best enemy. You can easily be influenced by those around you, for example when you start smoking.

Do you still face people who don’t believe in mentalism?
I meet people every day who don’t believe it. There are still skeptics, but fewer I must admit. People come to me hoping they can be hypnotized. The skeptics who are divided by having been hypnotized, they are my best ambassadors.
Over the years, the number of spectators hypnotized on stage reaches around 200,000. When I go on TV, for example, there are no false pretenses. I don’t build my career on that of others, and that would cost my producer too much (laughs).
There are still a lot of things you would like to do on stage, include in your shows?
There are a lot of things I want to include. Those who follow me know that the show evolves regularly. Things emerge during the show, we think it’s crazy and we keep them. I’m currently in the process of writing a new show, but for now I’m keeping these new issues to myself.
