hasty and poorly reasoned choices
For about a month now, the Government has decided to eliminate all existing precautions for combating Covid-19, including the obligation of a mask and distancing, thus consciously accepting an inevitable increase in infections and therefore hospital admissions. We have already expressed our great doubts about the choice, because some minimal points (such as indoor masks) could be an example due in our opinion to remain for some time; it is clear that, however, in the face of choices of this nature that lead to consider Covid-19 as a disease for which no more precautions are needed, it is strongly noted how the management of infections (inevitably “, as if we were dealing with a still dangerous and worrying disease. An evident political and technical contradiction. And so the positives, even if totally asymptomatic or with common colds, are still locked in the house for several days (in the case of families who pass the virus among themselves there is the risk of spending even a month at home, now that everyone has become negativized), with significant costs both for the ISS and for the companies that have to cope with people’s absences (without counting the psychological implications of periods of segregation of this type, especially for children) And so visits to guests of Casale La Fiorina are blocked again, continuing to ignore the importance – especially for such elderly patients and often with mportant health problems – contact with family members and loved ones. And continuing to follow the simpler path, that of dry closure of contacts, rather than looking for ways – more complex but more useful – to ensure the balance for health safety and the need for human contacts for patients in particular fragile conditions ( also emotional). And it seems that the same fate has befallen the guests of the Colore del Grano, even here without taking into account the particular conditions of the guests of that structure. And so we are left to close (or almost) hospital wards to guarantee personnel to the Covid ward, where there are still people hospitalized (probably also due to the effects of the “laxity” chosen by the government). The ISS management, in 2 years, was totally unable to create a structure of nursing staff coming from different departments to manage the needs of the Covid ward and therefore, once again, the Pediatrics ward is paying the price, which is ” plundered ”of a large part of his nurses making it impossible or almost impossible for him to guarantee hospitalization and management of his own sector; with easily imaginable consequences for children who may have needs, and who end up “bounced” in parts less equipped and competent on their particular needs. Once again we see the total improvisation (not to say inability) in the management of health questions in our country, between hasty and poorly reasoned choices and an evident difficulty in making adequate and effective managerial and organizational choices. But despite this, the new General Manager Bevere was confirmed in his role after less than two months of probationary period (more unique than rare in the public management such a short probation period, he must have been very good …), even if not you understand what he is doing; while Rabini and Forcellini remained in their place, in perfect continuity with two years of bankruptcy management of the ISS. It is really shaking to see how things are going. To investigate these aspects related to the management of pediatrics, Repubblica Futura will present an interpellation in the coming days.
