ANMP Porto threatens to leave, Lisbon does not
Rui Moreira from the Porto City Council, expressed his dissatisfaction with the way in which a centralization of competences for the municipalities is foreseen, and even threatened to withdraw the autarchy from the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities (ANMP), attributing the association now led by Luísa Salgueiro , president of the Matosinhos CM of “complicity and total connivance” with the Government in this process, according to JN.
The topic is not, however, new. In 2018 Moreira had already announced this intention. The mayor of Porto also accuses “the total failure of the ANMP in functions that are statutorily assigned to it”.
Questioned by the media on the matter, Carlos Moedas, mayor of Lisbon (CML), showed solidarity with Moreira in some of his complaints, but assured that the CML is to remain in the National Association of Municipalities, asking that the Have a stronger voice with the Government, inform yourself with the entire process of downloading powers for aut. Feasibility is a watchword for mobility, in the sense that it is a unique way for municipalities to determine the competences that determine the Central State.
