Volodymyr Zelensky, President of Ukraine, addressed the Lithuanian Seimas on Tuesday. Speaking about the video call, V. Zelenskis praised Lithuania’s position and thanked both the Lithuanian leaders and the people of the country for their help.

“If everyone in Europe were so principled and respected by European values, the Russian authorities could not expect anything to happen and this war would not take place, because the Russian authorities would not dare to make such a decision,” Zelensky said.
Lithuania is the first to come to the aid of Ukraine, the President of Ukraine V. Zelensky addressed the Seimas on Tuesday.
“You were the first to come to the rescue in Ukraine,” he said.
The leader of Ukraine said that Ukrainians will remember the efforts and sincerity of Lithuanians for a long time.
Addressing the Seimas, V. Zelensky spoke about the values, asking how important they are now.
Addressing the Lithuanian Seimas, V. Zelenskis expressed doubts about Europe’s determination to stop the war crimes of Russia, which is continuing its invasion.
“If there is no clarity about Russian gas so far, no one can be sure that there is a common will in Europe to stop Russia’s war crimes,” Ukraine said.
He said this to the European Union (EU) no longer agreeing on an embargo on imports of Russia’s key energy resources – gas and oil.
The threat is not limited to Ukraine
The President of Ukraine stressed that Russia is committing war crimes in Ukraine. According to Zelensky, there are more Ukrainian cities in situations like the one in Buča, from which the Ukrainian army has not yet been able to oust Russia.
Zelensky said that with all its tactics, Russia no longer leaves people killed on the streets and burns them. In so trying to cover up their war crimes, get rid of all the witnesses.
“Russia is sure it will not be punished,” Zelensky said.
“They are deporting people en masse from the occupied territories, they have already taken hundreds of people to a special filtration camp, confiscated documents, interrogated, humiliated or killed – it is unclear,” the Ukrainian leader said from Kyiv.
“Many deported shipments to the Russian region are prohibited from leaving. “This is an attempt by all witnesses to war crimes,” he added.
According to V. Zelensky, not only soldiers who commit crimes are responsible for this, but also their commanders and political leaders.
“Is it possible that the Russian political authorities do not understand the consequences? “It is impossible, but it is happening in our country,” said the President of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader spoke to the United Nations (UN) earlier this month about the mass deportations.
He called for “immediate” action on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of his country, calling for Russia to be removed from the UN Security Council, a lack of opportunity to disband the organization.
But Russia is one of five permanent members of the Security Council that has a veto and has repeatedly used it to block resolutions and negotiations on the world stage.
Zelensky warned that Ukraine is just the beginning, and that Russia has far-reaching plans. According to the President of Ukraine, the Baltic states are also under threat.
Zelensky said that the war had not broken Ukraine and that the country would have to be rebuilt in the near future. The President of Ukraine said that he hoped for Lithuania’s help in this matter.
He connected to the Lithuanian Seimas remotely directly from Kyjiv.
Following a statement by the Ukrainian leader, Lithuanian parliamentarians plan to consider and pass a resolution condemning Russia’s military aggression and war crimes in Ukraine.
President Gitan Nauseda also asked the Ukrainian leader to address the Seimas directly.
Mr Nauseda calls for tougher sanctions
After the speech of the President of Ukraine, President Gitanas Nausėda once again called on the Lithuanian Seimas to tighten sanctions against Russia, which had caused the war.
“When we think about Europe, let’s keep room for tightening sanctions in the future, let us still have room for maneuver if Russia’s behavior changes – this attitude is fundamentally wrong,” Nausėda told reporters on Tuesday.
According to the Lithuanian leader, after V. Zelensky’s speech and stories about the raped baby, it is obvious that “we have achieved so much more power to imagine.”
“What needs to happen even more terrible is that we finally realize that pushing the accelerator to the end, because in this way we can achieve a real result and stop Russia in this inhumane war,” G. Nausė said.
Russia launched a military invasion of a neighboring country on February 24th. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said his country is seeking to “denacise” Ukraine and “demilitarize” the country on the military side.
