Toulouse: the “Transport-amoureux.vu” site still has the flame
The pandemic has not got the better of him: the “transport-amoureux.vu” site, Jeanne d’Arc station, always has the attention of users to post a message.
“Between two metro breakdowns, we were able to use our feet to get to know each other better and spend part of the journey together! I know these are things that only happen for a month, but see you soon…”.
One of the many pink-colored messages, to be discovered on the screens of the Jeanne-d’Arc station (line B), which, since 2007, tell the story of everyday life and forge links with users who, for a few words, closer. This digital concept, nicely named “love transport” made famous by the newspaper Liberation, was taken up during the creation of the Jeanne d’Arc station, by the visual artist and photographer Sophie Calle. A scenic installation whose rules are simple: “We all have one day, feel the need, without daring, to speak to someone in the metro, explains the rules. However, we would have liked to let the person reading a book or the one wearing a red coat know that we regret this missed opportunity for all sorts of reasons. So let’s leave him a message. It is then sufficient for line B users to connect to the site www. transport-lovers.vu
Tisséo clarifies: This artistic installation is not a dating site and the messages not intended to
Fifteen years after the installation, the communication of amorous transport still passes between strangers. Arnaud, in his thirties, wanted to test the application during the covid: “The time chosen was ideal. Messages posted were rare. We no longer communicate. I was alone. After noticing a young woman on the line with a very original Venice carnival version mask, I started. She answered me. We met. If the “remote” approach was very fleeting, I liked this break like no other. It did us both good. Since then, I continue to look at the pink messages a bit like a book”.
Tisséo mentions it: this artistic installation is not a dating site and the messages are not intended to succeed. “It’s more about poetic narratives produced like ‘bottles in the sea’ to give birth to hope and the possibility of something else for the person who writes it”.
