An asset for the end of the championship?
Winner this weekend against Troyes, AS Monaco once again relied on their bench to turn the game around. An important contribution this season for the Principality club.
It is becoming a habit for AS Monaco. Against FC Metz last weekend, Myron Boadu replaced Gelson Martins at halftime. About twenty minutes later, the Dutchman finds the net and gives the victory to his team (1-2). Yesterday afternoon, Kévin Volland replaced Boadu and on his first ball, he scored the winning goal for ASM (1-2). A performance that the German had already achieved against PSG on March 20, scoring the break goal just four minutes after coming into play. Three achievements that have enabled the Principality club to score nine points in their last three meetings and go back to 6and place, one point behind the rival from Nice and two from Strasbourg.
Ben Yedder “super sub”
A contribution from the Monegasque bench which allows AS Monaco to be, on a par with Lorient, the team having scored the most goals through their substitutes in 2022 (6 achievements). If on the side of the Hakes, the winter recruit Ibrahima Kone has a lot to do with having scored three goals off the bench, on the side of AS Monaco, it’s captain Wissam Ben Yedder who inflates the stats. Back from injury, the French striker was on the bench against Clermont in mid-January. Came into play at the break, he had registered a double and allowed his team to achieve great success in Auvergne (4-0). A little earlier in the season, he was also decisive against FC Metz (4-0) while Niko Kovac, the ASM coach at the time, only very rarely did he start dating. A little extra for Philippe Clément at the end of the season? The Belgian coach knows, in any case, that he can count on his entire group to seek a European place.
A sensational entry from @KeVolland ????
