Toulouse: Disappointed, EELV supporters are already turning to the legislative elections
After the good results in the last elections, Yannick Jadot’s score below 5% is synonymous with disappointment for the “greens”. In the local Toulouse of EELV, we are now considering the next legislative elections.
“On the hope of bouncing back during the legislative elections, but we will have to analyze these recent disappointing results”, admits Céline Cardin, local spokesperson for Europe Ecologie Les Verts (EELV). In their premises, at 60 boulevards des Récollets in downtown Toulouse, supporters of Yannick Jadot regret that the environmental message did not have more scope.
Antoine Maurice, member of EELV and municipal councilor does not hide his disappointment: “With the overmediatization of Zemmour, the war in Ukraine and the non-entry into the campaign of Macron, the environmental debate was complicated and did not take national scale. I still thank all the voters of Yannick Jadot”.
At the Haute-Garonne scale, the environmental candidate does not exceed the fateful 5% mark either. Passing through the premises of EELV, Pierre Cohen, former mayor of Toulouse and former socialist deputy expected a higher score from the candidate of the “greens”. “We expected a higher result between 6 or 7%. Generally speaking, on a choice between liberalism or the extreme right. We must now work on the legislative elections. EELV is now looking towards the next legislative elections. François Benoit-Marquié, candidate next June hopes “an ecological front for the next president and a third round to carry the message of the greens”.
