This is the reason for the rising internet prices – Austria-News
The inflation wave in Austria continues. The prices for Internet and mobile phone tariffs will now rise in this country.
Almost every product is getting more expensive these days. Whether rent, electricity, gas or groceries – the prices in Austria are increasing rapidly. This also applies to internet and mobile phone tariffs, which are also affected by price increases.
Valuation increases prices
Once a year, Internet and mobile phone contract providers are allowed to adjust their prices to the consumer price index of Statistics Austria. This value protection is now responsible for the fact that mobile phone and Internet prices will soon also be accelerated in the amount.
While the connection charges will not increase, the basic charges of the tariffs will increase. Maximilian Schirmer, head of the price comparison portal tarife.at, assumes that the price increase will be around 4.2 percent. The absolute additional amount depends accordingly on the basic fee that has to be paid.

If you follow these calculations, a tariff that currently costs 65 euros per month would increase by a total of 33 euros per year. According to “Ö1 Morgenjournal”, however, prices can rise if the contract contains a value retention clause. If this is only now being requested by the mobile phone or Internet operator, customers can leave the contract in advance with a special right of termination.
However, Maximillian Schirmer considers this to be unrealistic anyway, he says: “Usually, value protection is not agreed in the addendum, because the providers know that this special right of termination can then be claimed”. Such a new clause in the contract would also have to be announced by the providers one month in advance.
