San Marino, the secretary denounces the former prime minister Simoncini for harassment: “He was asking for help with the zipper”
In March the news that in San Marino, the now former Captain Regent Giacomo Simoncini, who went down in history as the youngest head of state in the world, had stripped naked in the lower parts in front of the secretary called to his office, in Palazzo Pubblico (the equivalent of the Quirinale), had raised an uproar. A piece of news, in fact, which had begun to circulate in the corridors and was then also reported in the local newspaper «L’informazione».
The story: the broken choice and the request for help
But now that alleged episode also results in a complaint. The one that has formalized in recent days the employee who, upset, would have immediately reported the facts to an employee of the Regency. Facts then came to the attention of the Government. According to what emerged, the secretary would have been attracted so far to Simoncini’s office with an excuse one of the first days of March. Once she entered the room, the woman would report that she found the Captain Regent in front of her (towards the end of her mandate) trying to fix the zipper of his pants that he said was broken. And insistently asked the employee to help him, until he took off his pants.
The complaint for private violence
At least this would be the content of the complaint that was formalized by the woman who turned to a lawyer whom the had already informally informed the judiciary. Which could now challenge Simoncini with the hypothesis of a crime ranging from the attempted violation of sexual freedom to private violence and even fines inherent in offensive acts of sexual modesty. Furthermore, objections could also be advanced for the role he played at the time of the alleged harassment.
Simoncini’s defense: “I didn’t do anything wrong”
However, he rejects the accusations on all fronts. “As a free citizen I can firmly affirm that I have done nothing wrong” he said, determined to protect his “integrity and reputation as a politician, as a director and, above all, as a man”. Meanwhile, the Union of San Marino Women will promote trade union action against her: “A necessary path to take to ascertain the facts” they said. At work there is a group of lawyers who will draw up the deed which will be filed within the deadline, that is on April 14th.
