Despite the decline, Austria remains corona red
The decline in infections and tests was not enough this week to get a federal state out of the corona high-risk area. However, in the meantime, several of the risk number 100, from which it goes into lower levels, are only quite close. It is positive that the number of infections fell everywhere in the 14-day trend.
The fact that things are going down quite quickly can be seen from the risk number, which is used to assess the risk situation on the basis of various parameters. A week ago, Carinthia was still at 337 and has now reached 181. Styria even fell from 310 to 136. It was in the federal state with the best starting value that the risk figure fell the least: In Vienna it fell from 189 to 133, which means that the corona traffic light in the federal capital is still red.
In any case, the number of infections not only fell in general in all federal states, but also everywhere in the particularly vulnerable group of over-65s. Nevertheless, another slight increase in the number of corona patients is expected in the normal wards in the next two weeks. A constant occupancy is forecast for the intensive care units.
The number of tests with the quota that has been in force since Friday has dropped less than might have been expected. A week ago there were almost 59,000 tests per 100,000 inhabitants, but these were at least 51,000. The Viennese remain undisputedly the most willing to test with a value of almost 93,000. In Tyrol there are just over 19,500 to 100,000 inhabitants. In the federal capital, the number of cases that were (still) asymptomatic when the test was positive has fallen somewhat, but is still a respectable 63 percent. At 2.1 percent, all tests taken together also have the lowest positivity rate in Vienna.
For the first time this week, the figures for the individual districts were no longer listed in the Commission’s working paper – available to the APA. According to the AGES dashboard, Mistelbach had the most unfavorable value over the past seven days. Schwaz has the best value.
