Toulouse: A brawl and gunshots in the Borderouge district
Shots were fired on Tuesday evening in the Borderouge sector in Toulouse. There were no injuries. A suspect has been arrested.
New shots echoed in the Toulouse sky on Tuesday evening. They did not kill anyone but seriously worried the witnesses of a brawl which took place around 8 p.m., Place du Carré de la Maourine, in the Borderouge district, north of the Rose city. The police officers of the specialized field brigade were called after the report, by witnesses, of at least one detonation.
On the spot, they did not discover any victim or suspect, nor any trace led to think that a tragedy could have occurred. Yet the witnesses stood by their statements. According to them, three people got out of a black Renault Mégane around 8 p.m. to go towards a man in the heart of the esplanade.
The latter, understanding that the “visitors” wanted to do battle with him, would have thrown a glass bottle in their direction before being joined by other people. At that moment, one of the three men from the Mégane pulled out a revolver he was carrying and fired a shot in the air.
He then grew bolder and targeted the small group with which hostilities had begun. As things degenerated, in front of witnesses, the three men who came by car took to their heels and left in the vehicle to pass out in the wild. On the spot, the police collected the testimonies and in particular exploited the images of video protection cameras.
A report of the suspects was immediately sent to the airwaves. The patrols remained attentive and it did not take long for a crew from the departmental intervention company to spot the car and a suspect, around 8:50 p.m., this time at the other end of Toulouse, in the sector of Empalot. The officials proceeded to check this young man, aged 22.
He did not try to hide from them that he was in possession of the handgun described by the witnesses. An alarm pistol. The suspect, already disadvantaged known to justice, who would be the author of the shots, was arrested and placed in custody at the police station. The file was entrusted to investigators from the Right Bank urban security responsible for unraveling the reasons for this escalation of violence on the public highway.
